Subsidiary Food Essential for Dietary Life

It is proverbially said in the DPRK that tree lives on water and man lives on kimchi. All the more, kimchi is a subsidiary food which is necessary to the dietary life of the Korean people.

There are various kinds of kimchi such as whole cabbage kimchi, wrapped-up kimchi, sliced radish kimchi, white kimchi, watery radish kimchi, fermented flatfish and Alaska Pollack, bachelor kimchi, leaf-mustard kimchi, cucumber kimchi and edible herbs kimchi and so on.

Kimchi, the outcome of creative talents of the Korean people, has now been increased into hundreds of varieties. The Korean peculiar way of preparing pickles was enlisted as a non-tangible cultural heritage of the world in 2015.
