A Photograph

People will likely find it hard to believe that there was only a sheet of photograph in the safe of a head of state.

However, immediately after President Kim Il Sung passed away, there was only a photograph in his safe.

Whatever photograph was it? And why did the President keep it carefully by the last moment of his life?

On December 31, 1948, the President sat together with comrade Kim Chaek at night and deeply reviewed the meaningful year 1948 when the DPRK was founded and the revolutionary regular armed forces built up.

The time arrived all too soon when the bell rang out the old year. The President said to him that people often refer to a photo as reviving a dear memory in their lives and asked him to have a photograph taken together in honor of the unforgettable year 1948.

Saying that he wasn’t going to have a photo taken officially with deputy prime minister, a Cabinet member, in his official position as prime minister, the President told him that it would be a souvenir photograph to be taken in a comradely way by human Kim Il Sung with human Kim Chaek.

After all, since then the President had carefully kept and seen the photograph taken with comrade Kim Chaek for over forty years.
