Korean Painting Blacksmith’s

Blacksmith’s was painted by Kim Hong Do from the late 18th century to the early 19th century.

A man is tilting even his lips focusing his mind on a piece of iron picked up with tweezers and other peoples are striking briskly a red-hot iron with ponderous hammers. In the meantime a young man is blowing with bellows to the elated hammer striking and a young plowman sharpening his sickle having taken his A-frame off. All characters in this painting are engrossed in their work and their individual faces are wearing the joy of labor and cheerful laughter.

Construction that smartly dovetailed character painting, masterly and graphic strokes and delineation of characters by an unwavering and elastic line and so forth are vividly showing his skillful portrayal.
