The Phothae Zone Takes Pride in Its Natural Landscape

Mt. North Phothae, 2,288 meters high on the sea level, is the main peak of the north Phothae volcano and has a rectangular crater 4.5kms long and 2.0kms wide. It has some significant geological points such as a lava cliff and a lava tower and is rich in forest resources as there are so many species of trees like larch trees and white birches.

Mt. South Phothae, 2,433 meters high on the sea level, has peculiar volcanic scenery seldom to be seen in other volcanoes and thus is of a great academic significance.

Phothae Mount has not a few scenic spots which did not show their appearances as yet including some geological places of a distinctive volcanic significance.

The Phothae zone around Samjiyon City has much snow and, therefore, it can be a right place for mountain tours of sport and experience types in terms of its geographical situation and climate condition.
