Some year ago a European political figure walked round several places of Pyongyang City during his visit to our country and asked his guide about the heights of the statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansu Hill, Tower of Juche Idea and Arch of Triumph.
Having got an answer from his guide, he got wondered saying: “It is much higher than the Arch of Triumph in Paris and the statue of President Kim Il Sung was erected on a highest level as befitting his high authority” and asked who had proposed the work of erecting the statue of the President.
When he heard the story that Chairman Kim Jong Il proposed the work of erecting the statue of the President and to be a cornerstone supporting the monument, he was greatly moved and said: “A cornerstone, it is a common and modest way of expression, but his loyalty to uphold the leader reaches the sky. There were some renowned successors in the long history of international communist movement, but any of them couldn’t uphold their leader as Comrade Kim Jong Il did. It appears to be true that only a great man knows how to uphold a great man.”
