President Kim Il Sung paid an official visit to the People’s Republic of China in September 1982.  

Senior officials of the Chinese Party and government including comrade Deng Xiaoping and other broad sections of Chinese people warmly welcomed the President and arranged the grand functions with the greatest sincerity. 

Waves of jubilation swept the whole part of Chinese earth ranging from Dandong, the border city toward Beijing, the capital city, Chengdu located at the basin of Yangtze River and Xi’an at the basin of Yellow River. 

Ye Jianying, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the PRC received the news of his visit to China on a newspaper and TV while he was sick in bed. However, he had a heavy heart for his impatience as he was not able to see the President and show his all sincerity. That was why his admiration for the President was growing ever deeper.

He thought over and over and decided to present the painting “Running Horse” to the President which he had kept as an heirloom so carefully.

Fortunately, a golden chance arrived at him that the delegation of the National People’s Congress of the PRC was to visit the DPRK soon.
